Holyoke Community Ofrenda

The 2020 Holyoke Community Ofrenda was designed in collaboration with Attack Bear Press. The event was staged outdoors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in a space provided by the Baustein Building, to allow as many members of the community as possible to engage with the project and to leave offerings for departed loved ones. This event was funded by a generous grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts.

The design of this project took inspiration from the temple architecture of the Aztecs and the Inca as well as the spiritual beliefs surrounding Dia de los Muertos. Each three tiered section was built as a free standing structure, allowing for expansion of the Ofrenda in future iterations, as well as their use in other display applications.
